After the second bud is cut off, the new buds will be hard.
The buds are then steamed, rubbed, dried, and roasted over high heat to release
their fragrant aroma.

This tea is made from the hardened shoots and stems, and is therefore less expensive than Japanese green teas such as Gyokuro and Sencha.
In Japan, people from children to the elderly drink it instead of water.
It can be enjoyed hot or iced.
